I look forward to what you may find out about coordinate systems of POV-RAY. The progress is impressive.

In commercial geometry apps, I’ve not seen optional coordinate systems such as internal parts having coordinate systems of their own, or not until and unless the given object, be it simple or complex is subdivided. (After each subdivision an added coordinate set can be used but I find little use for that). All objects otherwise respond only to x,y,z for the given project.

I happen to like this new use of the word “recursive”, thanks for your usage.

We may otherwise take the initial circle, (as the cycle of orbiting a path, while the helix makes it’s first full turn), as the original object to first recur, successionally adding cycles along a path. Convention taught us that the helix circles an axis and eventually technology taught to use words like turns or winds or coils. Nature shows us that orbits recur universally, perhaps in all matter, with cycles along paths of other orbits.

Does POV-RAY tilt the helix angles a bit by default, or is that an option intentionally selected? Is this what you mean by saying “recursive”?

Gary, The group heading image is a warm reminder of an idea about tapping energetic fields, where the right side of the structure is suggestive of a turbine blade broadside, and the left side is slightly more impervious, to an energetic current flow. (Scrolled down a bit: http://harmoniouspalette.com/InductiveCouplingGeometry.html)

This mp4 can be visualized as a turbine, but my first impression was more of a push-pull action, I think due to the spot-light effect, (as other more diffuse lighting options are available in CAD). ~Bo

Is it not possible to embed the images instead of linking them? (Such that the reader is able to easily see the images without “changing pages so to speak”.)

Gary, These are absorbing explorations, but more-so for the one able to self navigate the 3D model. While the mp4 videos are impressive, they don’t allow one to ponder specific angles, nor to zoom from wide to narrow angle lenses, all of which familiarizes the observer with the 3d world particulars.

One or more of the free 3D viewer plugin-downloads might be worth linking on the fsi website, which might provide personal navigation of 3D models. Our fieldstructureinstitute might then attract and well-accommodate more persons to explore 3d structure of various kinds, and also convey more ideas behind each model, perhaps even stimulate a discussion, as surely you may inform us.

It will require some effort and monitoring to determine the best tools to link, and to use in our www browser, but this really speaks to the heart of structural consciousness. I have a VRML import-export option provided in my 3dCAD, but there are alternatives described widely, as on google-results, (or scroll down page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VRML).

Perhaps if we kick this around a bit, we might get one another to figure something out. Last but not least is the generic gif-animation-app which can ease producer experiences and ease viewer experiences, (as one possibility); and furthermore it can otherwise be used to excerpt one’s visual-observations, and do so quite easily, (if ever we launch a good discourse service).

These gif animations load into browsers immediately and demand very little storage space, or bandwidth, and one of the options comes with 100% free hosting for any amount of storage/bandwidth, but that particular provider invokes a loss of copyright. This subject almost begins to open up a huge change towards the collective paradigm of a possible future in the making, for mankind at large. To keep abreast with world happenings, this subject is worthy of continued study and discussion. ~Bo
